| Oh wait! I almost forgot...
7. I chopped off my hair yesterday! Don't worry, I didn't shave it like I was tempted to do. It had gotten al long as my bra strap in the back, and I cut the back up off my neck, and the front is longer, just below my chin. It took 45 minutes just to cut out all of the bulk! I think I will be happier now, and I still have just enough hair to put in a ponytail, out of my face.
Now I am done. | | |
| Wow... it has been awhile...
1. I went on a roadtrip to Kentucky for National Convention. It was awesome and again made me appreciate my District so much more. Also, I figured out that all those states in between the coasts are really unneccesary. West coast for life!!!
2. About a week after I got back from my roadtrip, I helped Ryan move up to Portland. I got stuck driving Ryan's car by myself the whole way. After coming back from a roadtrip, the last thing I wanted to do was drive long distances, especially long distances by myself! Good thing we has two-way radios so that we could keep each other awake. I did get to visit my mom, sister (who moved to OR from AZ to get paid more at Outback and to take a job coaching a high school color guard team), and my grandparents. At the end of my trip though, it was really super-sad. I had to leave Ryan in OR, and I won't get an opportunity to see him until Thanksgiving!!! Sure, I talk to him on the phone about 2-3 times a day, but it's not the same as having a warm body in your bed!
3. I flew back from OR last Wednesday, and I don't know why, but apparently I look suspicious enough to go in the special line where they do the complete "pat you down" thing. It sucked because all I really wanted to do was make a B-line for the bathroom in the airport and cry. Anyways, I was up at 3:30am that day, got a quick nap between Portland and San Francisco, but as soon as I got dropped off at home from the airport, I went to the school and helped put the band room back together after we took everything out for wall repair, paint, and new carpet installation. Then I went to work until 10:30pm. That was such a long depressing day!
4. I have been working for the last six days straight. All 8-hour shifts too. Today is my day off before I go back for 3 more days, so I am going to enjoy it damn it!
5. I am so happy that I can watch football on TV now!
6. I am really excited about all the new Fhorn players coming in. It looks like we will have about 19 people to invite to our next horngy! We may have up to 9 MFHs and I'm counting about 17 people interested in concert horn! I'm stoked, mostly because I have been the one recruiting for both sections and, so far, it looks like we will have a really good bunch of people. I need to start planning a social gathering!!!
Well, that should get y'all caught up on what I've been up to.
| Today was Day One of my first jury duty, and I got selected to be on the jury. I'm actually kind of excited; it makes my week much more interesting. All I can say is that it's a civil case and should only take 3 more days, so I should be ok to leave for National Convention. Oh, and there's a good chance that we will be stopping in Las Vegas on our way! Now I can get my Vegas kick in until I can go for a more extended trip.
I'm reading Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. It is dark and doesn't start out the way we are all used to HP books starting out, but it's good and I am thoroughly enjoying it.
| So, if you count all of the "maybes" that we have received, the marching French horn section will include 9 members this fall! We only have 6 confirmed members (myself, lizz, Jamie, Betsy, plus two registered freshmen- Michelle and Kenneth), but I think when the other 3 (Monica, Penny, and Joshua) show up for the September 10th football game, they will be hooked into joining!
I am still frustrated with my work situation. It feels like I have all of these things that are bothering me and they are just stacking up on me. Plus, it annoys me that the things that bothering me lately have been getting more and more petty. Would it bother you that a fellow employee (one of your supervisors) as wearing a stupid hat (we're not allowed to where hats while working)? Would it bother you that fellow employees walk around in very risque clothing while on their breaks (they put a jacket over while they are working)? I just don't want to have boobs staring me in the face while I am trying to work. Of course, I don't really respect this supervisor in the first place; I try to avoid her at all costs. The other thing that bothers me is that I just can't bring myself to mentioning these things (and all the other more serious crap that people get away with) to our GM. I almost exploided today. I almost want to, just so that I can get all of this shit off of my mind and work won't stress me out so much.
I wonder how the rest of the bid is coming...
So, to wrap things up, I'm fairly bored this summer, yet, the only things that keeps me busy and not bored is stressing me out. I can't wait to be my own boss and not have to deal with office/chapter politics (there are other chapter things that are pissing me off, but I'd rather not talk about them right now).
| Alright,
My summer has been more stressfull and less busy than I would have hoped. I have been sending out emails to new band members on my recruiting lists (because I am recruiting for two different bands) and I end up spending most of my time waiting for replies . I've only gotten about a third of the responses that I need so eventually, I will have to call these kids. If you were on my email list and somehow found yourself reading my xanga, please email me back!
I have also been trying to keep myself busy so that I am not stuck watching HOURS of bad television. I've overhauled the Brotherhood Social Committee Chair binder and have been helping with the Founder's Trophy bid. Past the normal work drama (I hate my job but don't know if it's really worth it to leave), I have been packing, cleaning, and gearing up to move and go to National Convention simultaneously.
Other than that, I have been trying to exercise more often, and eat more vegetables. I have been, and that is good, but I have also been eating more junk food too. We'll see which side prevails.
As for the more social side of my summer, I am trying to organize weekly female outings. This past week, we went and saw Bewitched. We had a pretty good time and it seemed like Jer really needed it. I think I am going to try to organize another one this week. If you are around and interested, let me know what you want to do, and what time you are available. This way, we aren't doing all the same things at the same times.
Well then, I have to work an overnight shift tonight (11:30pm to 7:30am) so I am going to attempt to find a cool place in my house and take a cat nap.
Oh, and Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince hits stores Saturday. Another something for me to keep myself busy.
